Herbert Schein new CEO and speaker of the management of VARTA Microbattery

Ellwangen, October 20, 2008 - Herbert Schein, 43 years old, so far member of the management was now appointed CEO and speaker of the management of VARTA Microbattery.

Herbert Schein, 43 years old, so far member of the management was now appointed CEO and speaker of the management of VARTA Microbattery GmbH.  This decision was taken in the shareholders meeting on October 15, 2008. Herbert Schein follows Hans-Burghardt Ziermann who is now - after the realignment - Member of the Board and will accompany VARTA Microbattery also in the future.

At the same time the management is reduced to two members. While Herbert Schein is responsible for the micro battery business in Ellwangen as well as for R&D, Hermann Meysel, now CFO, also takes the lead of the international operations.
The aim is to early focus on future market requirements. With the new structures, optimized processes and a significant expansion of the R&D activities, VARTA Microbattery wants to open up new growth market segments for the Lithium technology.

Herbert Schein works for VARTA Microbattery for 17 years and hast longterm experience in different management positions within the company. He knows all the processes very well. Schein studied electrical engineering, is married and has three children.
